Amazon, Sony, EMI bring out-of-print albums back to life

MUMBAI: Amazon.com announced that it will begin selling out-of-print albums on CD from major labels Sony BMG and EMI music on demand through its CreateSpace service.

Disc on Demand have brought back coveted out-of-print albums titles such as 'Hatari Soundtrack' by Henry Mancini, 'Earthquake Weather' by Joe Strummer, Cake's 'Motorcade of Generosity', 'Telepathy' by Bill Stewart, Tony Williams' 'Foreign Intrigue' and 'Carryin' On' by Grant Green will be amongst the first batch brought back from the dead with CDs manufactured and shipped when customers place an order.
Record labels and content providers are also using CreateSpace "Disc on Demand" to release new titles on the website that includes KCRW "Sounds Eclectic" series and the Wind-up Records soundtrack to the ESPN program "World's Strongest Man."

"This is an exciting day for music fans and Amazon customers. Through our partnerships with SONY BMG and EMI music, Amazon customers have an even greater selection of music to choose from today," said Amazon.com Vice President of music and movies, Peter Faricy in a report.

In addition to Sony BMG and EMI, the Amazon CreateSpace "Disc on Demand" service also offers titles from other notable labels such as Rhino Records, Wind-up Records, Vanguard Records and Naxos.
