Altaf Raja makes a comeback

MUMBAI: After a long hiatus, king of qawalli Altaf Raja has made a comeback on the music scene with his latest album ‘Ashkon ki Baraat’ on Venus Worldwide Entertainment. The album is set to release on 18 November 2012.

Starring actor Karanvir Bohra and debutant Avni Modi, the album comprises of romantic shayaris and tracks in the melodious voice of the singer.

Commenting on his comeback, Raja said, “Yes, I am making a comeback in the music industry with my album ‘Ashkon Ki Baraat’ presented by Venus Worldwide Entertainment. I give them hearty thanks for their gesture as they were also the presenters of my first album ‘Tum toh Thehre Pardesi’. My latest album is a bouquet of romantic songs visualizing the sweet pain of love and will surely reach the hearts of the audiences.”

The qawwali singer has been exclusively associated with the record label for over two decades and the association has delivered several hits like ‘Tum Toh Thehre Pardesi’, ‘Mujhe Apna Bana Lo’, ‘Tirchi Topiwale’, ‘Do Dil Haare’ and more.

Venus Worldwide Entertainment’s Champak Jain said, “Altaf Raja is very talented and much popular amongst all in the music industry. Commencing his playback singing career in 1998 with Mithun Chakraborty's ‘Chandaal’, Raja had a successful run on the music front for over a decade, rendering in films like ‘Tirchhi Topiwale’, ‘Pardesi Babu’, ‘Benaam’ and ‘Company’ amongst others. The singer took a hiatus of around two years after reports that the new school of playback singers overshadowed him.
