“It will be a combination of some of the city’s top names in music. I am both nervous and excited to play with them but it will an entertaining evening, Prabhakar told Radioandmusic.com.

The all- star lineup includes one half of Colonial Cousins Lesle Lewis, Joe Alvares and Zarir Warden. The artists will pay tribute to icons through the ages, get ready for some Elvis, Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Adele, Annie Lennox, organizers said.

The event will raise funds for city based NGO Akansha which provides supplemental education through its 40 centers and 13 schools in Mumbai and Pune. According to Akansha site, it currently reaches out to over 4000 children through two models: the after-school or center model and the school model.

Prabhakar will perform four songs- ‘9 to 5’ by country legend Dolly Parton, ‘Once in My Life’ by Stevie Wonder, and an old Blues song ‘Blue Moon’ and Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’. With 7 pop albums to her credit, 14 films where she has done playback singing, musical productions like ‘Evita’ where she announced her arrival, multi-talented Prabhakar is one of the most respected names in city’s entertainment circuit. According to her site, she is currently working on a world famous musical, a comedy show and penning a book.

In an earlier interview with radioandmusic.com, Prabhakar had said, “I have done some soul searching on play back singing but I am a self-employed producer so have not really looked into it. If I started making rounds, people would be embarrassed. To perform in front of people was a childhood dream and I’m lucky to be able to continue to do so. To choose between singing and theatre would be dicey. Singing is in my blood.”

“Though this show will be a one- off I would like it to be a longer one- where musicians can meet and play more often. They all have contributed so much.”

The All Star Evening concert will begin from 10 PM on 8 May at Blue Frog.
