MUMBAI: After a four-year hiatus, Senegalese American R&B Akon is back with a new single ‘America’s Most Wanted’ from his forthcoming album ‘Stadium’.

The recording artiste premiered the dance-pop single at recently held Miss USA pageant. The ‘Konvicted’ singer stated that the record industry implosion was the main reason for the delay of his upcoming fourth studio album slated to release on 11 September.

Akon told to a website (Billboard) that with record labels consolidating and tightening their budgets, he felt that he should fall back and take a little break. “The labels were all crashing and switching up staff. There was a lot going on within the industry itself and a lot of changes were being made, so within that process, I kind of decided I wanted to push back until [they] got everything together,” he said.

Released in 2008, Akon’s third studio album Freedom spawned four singles ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’, ‘I'm So Paid’ (featuring Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy), ‘Beautiful’ (featuring Kardinal Offishall and Colby O'Donis) and ‘We Don't Care’. The album sold 1,10,900 copies in its first week.
