AIR looks for VAS companies for SMS-services

MUMBAI: Over one lakh All India Radio (AIR) listeners have registered for the free of cost SMS services of AIR that will provide its users with the latest news updates. This service will be available across the country.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com, an official in AIR said, “We are in the process to decide which Value-Added-Services (VAS) company we will be partnering with. More than a particular telecom provider, we are looking at VAS company for this services who works with all the telecom services. There will be tender and re-tender before we finalise a company.”

For past two weeks, AIR has been advertising about the services on their various stations. “We have received tremendous response for the SMS services through our AIR advertisement. Now, we have stopped this advertisement but we plan to start it again once we have set-up all the need facility for the SMS services,” added an official.

The news will be sent thrice a day whereby the users will receive headlines. Breaking news services will also be implemented on a long-run.

There were reports, that Prasar Bharati (PB) is planning to expand itself in digital which will have the oldest Indian Broadcaster to venture in digital space along with its existing medium- television and radio. PB had also developed various apps to spread their content to the consumers.
