Agneepath swept music awards at TOIFA 2013

MUMBAI: Agneepath bagged two awards in the music category at the first edition of (TOIFA) Times of India Film awards 2013 held in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Ajay Atul again bagged an award for their music direction in Agneepath. Earlier this year, they had received Star Dust and Mirchi Music awards bringing to a total of around nine awards. Sonu Nigam also added another trophy for his melodious track ‘Abhi Mujhme Kahi’ that holds a special place for him. He also won Zee Cine awards, Radio Mirchi Music award, Lions Gold Award and MTV Video Music Award as the best playback singer male this year

Gulzar took away the TOIFA for his lyrics in the popular romantic track Saans from Jab Tak Hai Jaan. He had also won Filmfare awards for the same track.

Best playback singer female category was won by Shalmali Kholgade for the track Pareshaan from Ishaqzaade. Kholgade made her debut as a lead vocalist in bollywood playback singing with this under the music of Amit Trivedi, which got her critical acclaim and now many awards.

Other winners in the music category include Pritam  who won best background score for Barfi! and Anita Kushwaha who bagged best sound recording for Talaash.

Anurag Basu’s Barfi! turned out to be the top winner with trophies for best film, best director, best actor and best actress.

Hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, the awards show witnessed performances by Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra amongst others.
