Adnan Sami to score music for four films in '08

MUMBAI: Singer turned music director Adnan Sami has set his sights on Bollywood in 2008.

Sami, who has composed the music for Moser Baer's first Hindi feature film production Shaurya, will be scoring the music for four more feature films this year. Among his assignments this year are Vikram Bhatt's thriller film titled 1920, Raj Kanwar's Sadiya, Ken Ghosh's next venture and another project, about which Sami is loath to reveal more. Sami, who currently hosts music show Bol Baby Bol on Star One, was virtually absent from the Bollywood music scene after he composed the music for Sohail Khan's Lucky - No Time for Love in 2005. In 2007, Sami returned to compose the music for Indra Kumar's Dhamaal.

The singer, who will appear in Bandwidth Film's new venture with fresh find Bhumicka Singh this year, also has no plans for a solo album this year. Sami last cut an album Kisi Din for music label T Series.

The music of Shaurya, directed by Samar Khan featuring Kay Kay Menon, Rahul Bose, Minissha Lamba, Jaaved Jaaferi was launched in Mumbai on Monday. The compositions in the movie include the title track, a poem recital by Shah Rukh Khan- 'Shaurya kya hai' penned by Jaydeep Sarkar.

Excerpts from a chat with Adnan Sami-

You have composed for albums and now Bollywood. What excites you more?
Having composed for both, Bollywood and albums, I do not have any preferences. Both interest me equally and I do not have any inclinations, but I do have more of Bollywood compositions lined up this year.

Songs are an integral part of Bollywood movies today. Your take on it? Your expectations with Shaurya?
Today, much weightage is given to the songs and there are times when the songs make an impression even when the movie doesn't work. I hope my compositions for Shaurya click with the audience.

There are music composers who are turning music producers in Bollywood. Are you going to venture into similar territory?
Perhaps, I would, in the future. It is always good to protect your intellectual property as it escapes plagiarism. I have not tried it earlier though.
