Adele sweeps Grammy with 6 honours

MUMBAI: British soul singer Adele swept the top honours at the 54th Grammy awards. Adele picked six Grammys including Record of the Year, followed by Foo Fighters with five awards.

Adele bagged other honours forSong of the Year, Best Short Form Music Video for â€?Rolling in the Deep', Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album for â€?21' and Best Pop Solo Performance â€?Someone Like You'. Whereas rock band Foo Fighters won  for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song â€?Walk', Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for â€?White Limo', Best Rock Album â€?Wasting Light' and Best Long Form Music Video for â€?Back and Forth'.

Other big winners included Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown and Skrillex.

The awards night began on a somber mood over the demise of Whitney Houston. The host, LL Cool J opened the night with a prayer in her honour followed with a performance by Jennifer Hudson on the evergreen song �I Will Always Love You'.

The Grammy also witnessed performances by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band followed by Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Coldplay and Rihanna. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt reminisces Etta James's â€?A Sunday Kind of Love'  who passed away recently. Other highlights included a Beach Boys reunion and a Lifetime Award for Glen Campbell who sang â€?Rhinestone Cowboy'.
