Abhijeet Sawant to release album 'Farida' after five years

MUMBAI: After five years, winner of Indian Idol (Season 1) Abhijeet Sawant is back with an album. The sufi rock album album titled ‘Farida’will be out in February last week.

The album is under Universal Music and comprises of seven tracks composed by Harpeet Singh, Rajeev Bhalla, Nakkash and Amit Sawant. His first solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released in 2005 and second album, Junoon was released in 2007.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, he said, “It’s not completely sufi but the texture and colour of the album is based on Sufism and rock. It’s a balanced mix of rock and sufism. The album is completed  and we are working on the video.” All the songs are rendered by Sawant himself.

Sawant has been working on the album for over a year. “Today’s, music is completely based on films. This kind of album is to promote non-film albums,” said Sawant. On the style in the album, he said, “The first track is completely Punjabi though it’s not the typical Punjabi song.”
