MUMBAI: Commemorating legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s magic on his 83rd birth anniversary, 9X Jalwa will showcase a special all day programme featuring Kishore Da’s tracks on 4 August 2012.
The channel will feature the singer’s hit tracks in different time bands during the day. ‘Block Buster Beats’ will feature Kumar’s peppy tracks from 1960’s till his death in 1987, which will air from 7-9 am, 11-1 pm and 5-7 pm. The ‘Dil Se’ segment will feature his soft, romantic numbers from 1-3 pm and 7-10 pm, while ‘Jee Le Dobara’ will comprise of his black and white songs from the 1950s to 1965 era which will air from 6-7 am and 12-12:30 am.
Speaking on the initiative, 9X Media Group senior VP and content head Amar Tidke said, “9X Jalwa will celebrate the birth anniversary of Kishore Kumar on Saturday 4 August by airing the timeless songs of this legendary singer all through the day. Kishore Kumar’s songs have been cherished across decades and will be an absolute treat to our viewers.”
Apart from being a well known playback singer and actor, Kumar had also worked as lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter. In a career spanning over four decades, he had rendered tracks in various Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya. He bagged eight Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer in his career and holds the record for most number of Filmfare Awards won in that category.
