MUMBAI: Australian pop singer-songwriter Kylie Ann Minogue's 2007 album 'x' has been nominated for the 51st Grammy Awards in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category.

X was Kylie's tenth studio album release after her first release since 2004 compilation album titled 'Ultimate Kylie'. X was preceded by lead single '2 Hearts' and released worldwide in November 2007. The American release of X came in April 2008, preceded by the single 'All I See'.

It was during the making of the album when Minogue was also recovering from breast cancer. Her cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2005, resulted in the postponement of Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour tour midway through its run. Minogue resumed the tour in late 2006, in the midst of recording X, and was completed later in the following year.

Despite mixed critical reception, X was nominated for a BRIT Award for Best International Album and debuted at #1 in Australia, and in the top five in the United Kingdom. No official statement has been given on the sales of X but according to the UK newspaper The Times, as of July 2008, X had sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide.

Kylie's Indian Odyssey

There's a buzz that Kylie Minogue is all set to sing for ace Indian music director AR Rahman and has reportedly been paid Rs. 5 crores for this deal. Prior to Minogue, American pop icon Madonna was approached however she could not confirm her participation due to her ongoing divorce.

The song would be recorded for Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta starrer 'Blue'. It is expected that Kylie will visit India sometime in January 2009 for studio sessions. The budget of Blue has so far touched Rs. 130 crores, minus Kylie's pay and other expenses. Recession? What's that?
