48th edition of Bengularu Ganesha Utsava has music bigwigs performing

BANGALORE: Social service organization Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha's (SVYS) 48th edition of the Bengaluru Ganesha Utsava (�Bangalore Ganesh Festival') has roped in a number of bigwigs from across the country performing daily evening at the APS college Grounds, Basavangudi, Bangalore.

The festival which commenced on 11 September will end on 22 September. The Bengaluru Ganesha Utsava (BGU) is touted as a major cultural festival of South Bangalore.

Eminent musicians, theatre groups and ballet troupes from all across the country have performed at the BGU. These include MS Subbalakshmi, Mandolin U Srinivas, Dr. Balamurali Krishna, Dr. KJ Yesudas, Usha Uthup, Gantasal, Sivamani, SP Balasubrahmanyam, P Unnikrishnan, PB Sreenivas, Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, Shankar Mahadevan and Daler Mehendi, all of whom have enthralled the audiences with their exceptional artistic abilities.

Some of the well known performances that have already happened during the festival this year include: Veena recital –Dr.Suma Sudhindra on 11 September,  Hindi pop and film music by Kailash Kher on 13 September; Earth'n Beat with the Antardhwani choir by Praveen D Rao on 14 September.

A Percussion Ensemble by Shivamani is scheduled for today. Shreya Ghosal will be performing film music tomorrow (16 September). 17 September will see a classical and vocal performance by Pandi Jasraj.

Ravichandra Kulur will play fusion music on 18 September. On Sunday, 19 September, there will be a film music performance by Sonu Nigam, and the last performance will be a classical sarod recital by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan, Ayaan on 21 September.
