204 radio entries at Eurobest 2012

MUMBAI: A total of 204 radio entries have been submitted at Eurobest, the European Festival of Creativity and annual awards which this year celebrates 25 years of creative excellence in advertising and communications.

While 4847 entries were announced today for this year’s awards, up 0.5 per cent versus 2011 from 38 countries across 15 categories including the new Branded Content & Entertainment.

While many categories have seen a rise or fall in the number of entries submitted this year, Radio and PR sections have witnessed a huge jump in entries with 41 per cent and 46 per cent increase respectively. Other categories which witnessed a substantial rise included Print (5 per cent), Direct (7 per cent), Promo and Activation (11 per cent), Media (3 per cent) and Mobile (6 per cent).

On the other hand, a drop in entries this year was witnessed in categories like Film (-19 per cent), Outdoor (-11 per cent), Design (-5 per cent), Interactive (-10 per cent), Print and Poster Craft (-13 per cent) and Film Craft (-5 per cent). The Integrated category remained fixed with 88 entries this year as well, while the new category Branded Content & Entertainment saw a total of 98 entries in its first year.

The top submitting countries in 2012 are Germany (1021) followed by France (703), Sweden (463), United Kingdom (455), Switzerland (325) and Belgium (324).

Lions Festivals CEO and Eurobest organizer Philip Thomas said, “Whilst the economic crisis prevails over Europe, the fact that the entries level is stable demonstrates that the European creative industries are still producing innovative work that deserves to be recognised with the much sought-after Eurobest award. With ‘Creative Bravery’ being the theme of this year’s Eurobest festival, we are eager to find out what brave pieces of communication the juries will select as winners.”

The shortlists will be announced on 29-30 November and the winning entries will be revealed and honoured at the Eurobest Awards Ceremony, scheduled to take place on 30 November at the Pátio da Galé in Lisbon.
