Worldwide Records acquires Marathi film 'Ashi Hoti Sant Sakhu'

MUMBAI: Worldwide Records has acquired the music rights for Marathi film ‘Ashi Hoti Sant Sakhu’.

The movie ‘Ashi hoti Sant Sakhu’ is based on the life and times of Sant Sakhu. The Sant Sakhu was first created on celluloid by the father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke with a silent movie in 1922. In 1941 Prabhat Talkies recreated Sant Sakhu with songs and Drama. And now after 72 years a new attempt has been made with the same story but with a new perspective.

It is of course, is a devotional movie but has much more in terms of entertainment. Sakhu is a simple house wife who is a staunch believer in Lord Vitthala of Pandharpur. Her in-laws are just the opposite. They are against any kind of pooja-path. Poor Sakhu is tortured in many ways, but she is all for her Vitthal.

One day on a Ekadashi Sakhu wants to travel to Pandharpur on the traditional Vari. Saakhu’s mother in-law, to stop her, ties her up with a roap. Sakkhu cries and clamors for her God. Vitthal appears disguised as her husband, frees her and sends to Pandharpur. Vitthal now takes Saakhu’s  place and the drama begins. This sakhu is no more a docile house wife, She is Vitthal. There are many twists and turns which make the movie engrossing and entertaining. The movie is full of sweet melodic devotional songs. Something entirely new, in this era of music of shouts and screams.

The film is releasing on 17 May 2013.
