Shaan's 'Happy Bird-day'song for Gen-X

MUMBAI: Attend a Birthday celebration and a song you certainly can't miss hearing is Baar Baar Yeh Din Aye…..Happy Birthday To You... from the film Farz sung by Legendary Singer, Late Mohd. Rafi. The song has become a must for every birthday party since its release in 1967. But with time comes a change and so has a new age birthday song been created after a gap of over 4 long decade which has been sung by Bollywood's most bankable playback singer of present times, SHAAN, who is very popular amongst the youth of today. The song titled HAPPY BIRD-DAY will be seen & heard in the Hindi animation film BIRD IDOL which released this Friday and is being touted as the Birthday song for next many decades by people who have heard it so far.

The song was conceptualized and is the output of efforts by the producers of Bird Idol, Goel Screencraft who have a long history of producing very popular children's songs in movies. Together with its sister company, Goel Cine Corporation, the Goel banner is responsible for innumerable children's hits such as Chal Mere Ghode tik-tik-tik (Chiraag Kahan Roshini Kahan), Chanda Mama Door Ke (Vachan), Hum Bhi Agar Bacche Hote (Door ki Awaaz) and Nanhe se Farishte (Ek Phool Do Mali). Bird Idol's HAPPY BIRD-DAY marks another milestone to this long list.

I have sung most of the songs in the film but when Jyotin Ji discussed about making something new and historical and came up with idea of this song, I almost took it as the first song of my career, because it required so much of justice to its soul. Then there always was an anticipation of people comparing it with Mohd' Rafi Sahab's song, coz whenever something new is tried, comparisons are the first thing we see  But now when people who have heard it speak about it being a song of a lifetime, I feel so happy to have been a part of it.... says Shaan, who feels lucky enough having sung HAPPY BIRD-DAY.

Lately, BIRD IDOL has already been in news for its music which has names like Kailash Kher, Neeraj Shridhar, Shaan and Actress Juhi Chawla to its name, who have sung in the film. The story of BIRD IDOL, which releases on 23rd April, 2010, revolves around a bird called Hummi' who is not happy with the bird music and is greatly impressed by human music and how he introduces human music to the bird music by entering into a competition called Bird Idol and with his genuine effort he puts himself and his parents into trouble.

Jyotin Goel, The Director of Bird Idol enthusiastically says- Actually this song was conceptualized by me and my son. We were at a Birthday Party and Humming Happy Birthday and here in India we normally say Happy Bird-Day instead of saying Birthday, So that's where the idea struck us and when the song came in to happening, only one name came across my mind- SHAAN. Yes we wanted the voice which represents the youth of today and who better than Shaan. Infact I was very happy when I saw Shaan with the same zeal that of a young kid, while singing the song. Finally the song will be out now and I am sure from now on along with Baar Baar Yeh Din Aaye, our song will become a must in the Birthday Celebrations....

Unlike other Animation films, BIRD IDOL is a unique film which has all the elements that of a typical Bollywood film. It has a love story, singing, dancing and also a villain for twists in the story. Another USP of the film is that it has been made by totally Indian Crew and on Indian Machines. Every effect that you see in the film is the output of the Indian machines. Thus it can be said that it is the first ever Indian animation film in Hindi lingual, having its characters in 3D.
