Radio City 91.1 FM declares Swarathma winner of RC Live

MUMBAI: RC Live - the nationwide hunt for India's best Hindi band and India's first of its kind reality radio event by Radio City 91.1FM concluded at a mega National Finale on Friday. 'Swarathma' from Bangalore won RC Live after a spectacular performance at the National Finals held at The Garden of Five Senses. Bagging themselves an album release contract from EMI, the winning band was felicitated by Ms Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City 91.1FM in presence of the RC Live judges - Dr. Palash Sen (Euphoria), Subir Malik (Parikrama) and Vibhav Rao, Manager, Artists & Repertoire, EMI.

Close contenders to win, Yeshua from Mumbai came in a close second followed by Ek from Bangalore. Rajarshi Sanyal from Faridkot (Delhi) and the sibling duo - Abhishek and Joyadeep Dasgupta from Shor Bazaar (Mumbai) won the title of Best Lead Guitarists and bagged hi-end guitars from Gibson. Enthralling a packed audience, the RC Live finals saw an evening of superlative performances from each of the finalists - Talaash, Yeshua, Ek, Faridkot, Aas, Shor Bazaar and Swarathma. The evening concluded with a rapturous performance by Indian Ocean.

A month long roller coaster from start to finish, Radio City 91.1FM's RC Live -The first of its kind reality radio event in India received entries about 125 entries from Hindi bands from all across the nation. These bands were screened for the regional level where instead of 3 bands competing for the coveted crown, 7 super talented bands were selected. RC Live was divided in 3 regions - North, South and West with entries from Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur converging in Delhi (North), Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai converging in Bangalore (South) and Mumbai, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Surat, Nagpur and Pune converging in Mumbai (West) respectively.

RC Live was supported by a robust hi-decibel national promotional campaign comprising extensive outdoors, interactive road shows and on-air elements. With RC Live, Croma - the electronics megastore came on board as Associate Sponsor, while Spykar was the official style partner and Gibson the prize partner. Barista was the on-ground partner with EMI as the music label partner. Agencyfaqs was the trade partners to the event.
