Pillai Group introduces 'Alegria – The Festival of Joy'
MUMBAI: Mahatma Education Society’s revered Pillai Group of Institutions introduces an all new intercollegiate festival called ‘Alegria – The Festival of Joy’, which will be held from 28th January to 1st February 2013 at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Campus, New Panvel. The fest will culminate with a unique celebration of Community Service Day on 2nd February 2013.
Alegria is a mega-festival that combines elements from previously organized individual college fests under the famous Pillai Group banner: i.e.: Xpressions (Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science), Pegasus & Impulse (Pillai Institute of Information & Technology), Kinesthesia (Pillai College of Architecture) and Sambhav (Pillai Insitute of Management Studies & Research). Alegria will be a great platform for students, from diverse academic backgrounds, to showcase their skills, talent and creativity. The mega college fest will attract over 40,000 students from across 250 colleges including engineering, architecture, management and commerce. The fest will record the highest footfall ever for an intercollegiate event in Navi Mumbai.
The festival includes several events under categories such as Literary Arts, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Informals, Workshops, and Sports & Gaming amongst others. The fest will be an extravaganza for tech-savvy students as there will be many competitions focusing on the latest technology.
This is just the beginning, music lovers have a reason to rejoice as there will be sensational live performances by popular musicians including DJ Suketu, DJ Teenu Arora, DJ Kissh and renowned Romanian band, Akcent. The artist and event is been managed by 3rd Rock entertainment.
Commenting on the Algeria 2013 festival Mr. Aarnavv Shirsat Chief managing director of 3rd Rock Entertainment says: the event will be managed in a very professional manner. For the very first time we have roped in an international artist Akcent to perform live for a college fest, the event will be marketed, publicized and executed on both ATL and BTL platforms.
A dash of glitz and glamour will be added by the presence of celebrities and socialites, out of which a few will be judging various events. Celebrity designer Neeta Lulla will grace the ramp with her own fashion show. Legendary footballer Baichung Bhutia has been invited to inaugurate the state-of-the-art multipurpose Synthetic Turf Field (a first for Navi Mumbai) at the Campus. Additionally, classical dancer Sudha Chandran, model and actor Sudhanshu Pandey, celebrity health expert Leena Mogre and noted novelist Murzban Shroff will grace the fest with their presence.
Commenting on the launch of Alegria 2013, Dr. K.M. Vasudevan Pillai said, “On 15th January we unveiled the logo for this one-of-a-kind intercollegiate festival. The staff and students have put in a huge amount of hard work to organize this fest. Alegria encompasses the best qualities of each of our previous college fests, thus, it will surely be a memorable experience for the organizing team, contingents and all our guests.”
“It is vital for us to give something back to the less privileged as part of this great celebration. Hence, on Community Service Day (2nd February), we will host residents of twenty NGOs at our Panvel Campus. They will join us for lunch and a day filled with fun activities, games, music and dance. Later, they can enjoy a talent show called ‘UBER RANG’ organized by our students. My best wishes are with the organizing team and all the participants. May Alegria be a huge success, “added Dr. Pillai.
