Jazz vocalist Rita Edmond launches her new release 'A Glance At Destiny' through The Jazz Network Worldwide

MUMBAI: Yet another Jazz Ambassador joins forces with The Jazz Network Worldwide to spread their love of jazz through its community and beyond with their new release.

Rita Edmond is one of jazz's best kept secrets, vibrant, fresh with a beautiful voice and a four-octave range, a natural singer, one who expresses deep emotions through her musical selections.

Rita is best known in Los Angeles for recording R&B and Pop demos for companies like Motown, BET, MCA, EMI Publishing and Warner-Chappell. Behind the scenes, Rita wrote and recorded music for various artists, shows and specials as well as running her own music label. Eventhough she had commercial successes on other artist's projects, she found it kept her away from singing the music she loved, jazz. Having a philanthropic heart, Edmond contributes her artistry to events produced by the West Los Angeles VA Hospital and continues to look for ways to share her art through fundraising events that support the lives of others.

Now with the release of A Glance At Destiny..., she continues to share her love of jazz and her growing number of fans. Once I finally started singing jazz,... she says, I knew that this is what I had to do, this is what I was put here for....

A Glance At Destiny... features brilliantly inspired performances by world class musicians at her side with the likes of Lew Matthews and Joel Scott on piano, James Leary and Edwin Livingston on Bass, Greg Poree and Jacques Lasure on guitar, Tootie Heath on Drums, Ricky Woodard on saxophone, Nolan Shaheed on trumpet and Z. Sean Johnson on flute. All the music and vocals were produced and arranged by Rita herself.

What you hear is someone with talent and grace, who understands the songs and the important interaction between singer and musicians, and how to convey that into a proper sounding recording. If this is only a mere Glance, I'm ready to join her on her life's mission.... ~ John Book - "This is Book's Music" - www.thisisbooksmusic.com

Backed by a four-octave range and years of gospel-ignited seasoning across North America and Europe, Edmond's recalls two of the all-time greats, reflecting the vocal power and majesty of Sarah Vaughan, the impeccable timing and phrasing of Carmen McRae, and the intense, natural musicality of both. Put in more contemporary terms, she should, in time, become the equal of Dianne Reeves. ~ Christopher Loudon, Jazztimes

Understanding that the business has taken a turn, its essential that one must creatively take an innovative stance in garnering relationships to their fan-base. Edmond decided to launch her own social network that connects her fans with a personal touch through her music to this new social environment. I offered Rita this idea of social networking to her own virtual community to not only promote her events, music and successful collaborations worldwide but to show prospective promoters that she is not only a voice to be reckoned with but a smart professional business woman that has created her own virtual landscape and street team..., says Jaijai Jackson, promoter of jazz and creator of The Jazz Network Worldwide.
