MUMBAI: Siliguri is in the grip of Marathon Mania. Baghajatin Athletic Club, which is one of the oldest club in Siliguri is organising 21 km All India Invitation half Marathon and 4 km Radio Misty Fraternity run 0n 18th September in association with the First and Number one fm station of North Bengal and Sikkim Radio Misty 94.3 fm.This Event creates More than the spirit of competition and the carnival-like atmosphere on Mahalaya.This is also the silver jubilee of this run.

Cricket Star Irfan Pathan will inaugurate Marathon and Radio misty Fraternity Run. Noted Athlete Milkha Singh, swimmer Bula Choudary, Bhaskar Ganguly, Dilip Palit, Anit Ghosh, Noted sports journalist Goutam Bhattacharjee  will also  be present on this occasion. West Bengal Urban Development Minister Asok Bhattacharya Inaugurated the theme song for this event. This Theme song shows all eminent citizens of city asking people to participate in this Event.

Baghajatin Club President Nawal Kishore soni said his club wanted to create an awareness among the masses in the region about the need to keep oneself fit and healthy and it was with this objective in mind that they are organising an marathon to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their Cross country race. Radio Misty is our partner in whole event. We are organising beside Marathon a 4 km Radio Misty Fraternity run.

BAC general secretary Shivnath Ganguly said that we have started of a region-wide movement that would see the participation of thousands of people in this event. Sporting legends, including Kapil Dev, PT Usha, Saba Karim, Milkha Singh, Gurbax Singh, Ashish Nehra, Reeth Abraham, Madhumita Bisht and Bula Chaudhury, had flagged off the race since 1985.

We are also organising 4 km Radio Misty Fraternity Race. We are having lot of sports star in this event and it will give a big buzz. We had been associated with this run last year also. Radio misty has started a 360 degree campaign to make a big hype with this event. We are getting local TV channels which will air the theme song and cover this race live. Print media is also involved this campaign. Radio Misty will is making new creative and there will be about 25 hoarding's to promote this event. On air several shows are planned around this event.
