MUMBAI: The first ever GUESS & KWAN W.E Rock Concert for Women's Empowerment was held tonight at Hard Rock Caf?©, Mumbai. Playing host to an energetic and party-loving crowd was the host for the evening, the feisty and energetic Genelia D'Souza. This fundraiser held in aid of the Akshara Centre was put together by well known fashion brand GUESS by GUESS Marciano and KWAN, India's premier talent management agency with support from Hard Rock Caf?©.

Dressed by GUESS for the evening in an uber cool dress in denim hues, Genelia was the perfect youth icon and a fitting host to the evening and spoke passionately about women's empowerment as a cause close to her heart. Personally aiding in the fundraising and mingling with the guests, she was the paragon of an inspiring and empowered woman. Shaa'ir + Func and Soulmate were dressed by GUESS as well, keeping in mind their independent, free-spirited sense of style. SOULMATE started the night by mixing sounds of the Blues and Blues-Rock. Their perfect performance was an eclectic prelude to Shaa'ir + func, arguably one of the most commercially successful indie bands in India, who had the crowd swaying to their beats of fusion and medley. Actress Monica Dogra, also the lead singer for the group Shaa'ir +func pulled a summer green girly ruffled dress from GUESS for the event.

The night saw celebrities' like Rahul Bose who is closely associated with Akshara Centre – the NGO,  Aditya Roy Kapur, Sandhya Mridul, Purab Kohli, Nikhil Chinappa, Gaurav Kapoor, Purab Kohli, Nandana Sen all of whom stepped out specially for a special cause this Women's Day! This is the second initiative undertaken by KWAN in support of the Empowering Dreams Programme for women that Akshara has pioneered. Supporting a social cause and having fun while doing it were the two key aspects of this event with a twist. The night ended with a double high of creating awareness about Akshara Centre and a winsome contribution by GUESS in aid of women's empowerment. The celebrities and guests contributed to the cause in their own special way and showed very graciously how big their hearts were. All in all, a successful endeavour by KWAN as their aim of aiding Akshara's Empowering Dreams Programme saw fruition.

This charity initiative was also supported by radio channel Fever 104 FM, who also pitched in their support for Akshara Centre by spreading the word across the airwaves.
