Dubai Eye 103.8 Official Radio Station of Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009

MUMBAI: The Arabian Radio Network (ARN), the UAE's largest radio broadcaster, today announced its popular talk radio station Dubai Eye 103.8 FM will be the official radio partner for the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens competition, to be held in Dubai from 5 - 7 March.

Organised every four years, it is the first time that the Rugby World Cup Sevens is being staged in the Middle East. The tournament, which kick-started in 1993 in Scotland, is traditionally dominated by England and New Zealand. Fiji, winners of the 1997 tournament, lifted the trophy once again at the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament in Hong Kong and are the reigning world champions.

In the run up to the game, Dubai Eye has teamed up with the recently-opened Atlantis Palm Jumeirah to award the listener who can correctly predict this year's winner with a weekend stay at the exclusive Regal Suites and dinner at the Seafire Steakhouse. In addition, the radio station's Entertainment Today presenter Mark Lloyd will be present at the tournament distributing family passes to the Atlantis Aquaventure Water Park.

Mahmoud Al Rasheed, General Manager of ARN, said: Dubai is a city that takes its Rugby very seriously, and we're proud to partner with an event that raises the city's prominence on the global sporting arena. We continuously survey our listeners to ensure that our offerings are relevant and captivating, and sports rates high on Dubai Eye's list of elements, along with up-to-the-minute news, great debate and cultural insight....

The Sevens format is highly popular in Dubai, with the annual Rugby Sevens matches drawing thousands of guests from the UAE and beyond. The 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens will find 24 men''s and 16 women''s teams pitted against each other for the coveted title.
