MUMBAI: Kolkata city today hosted the premiere night of Radio Mirchi and Kingfisher Strong Power Soda’s ‘Mirchimix’, one of India’s biggest hunts for aspiring DJs. The call for entry phase received tremendous response. Kolkata is one of the ten cities in which such city finales will be happening over the month, in which the top three DJs will battle it out to be crowned the city winner. DJ Binay Kr Jaiswal showed the most promising talent in Kolkata, when he wooed the young audience with his groovy music and scintillating tunes, though DJ Rishi and DJ Santanu also showed tremendous talent.

By no means an easy task, the three DJs had to impress a panel of renowned judges who have a cult following amongst the Bangla youth audience. On the panel was Gaurab Chatterjee aka Gaabu, the breathtaking drummer from bangla rock band Lakkhichara, heart-throbbing music composer & a DJ himself, DJ Kunal Bose, famed lead vocalist of the alternate rock band Five Little Indians – Neel Adhikari of Neel & the lightbulbs and Gandu Circus and the famous DJ Richard. Still, it became a daunting task to choose just one amongst the three competing DJs, for they were, at the end of the day mixing the evergreen disco songs of our own, Bappi Da.

From here, the selected DJs of each city will finally get a one in a million opportunity, craved by every DJ composer - to perform live for a massive audience, with a living legend who has shaped disco music in India. A chance to show their talent alongside Bappi Da at the Grand Finale of Radio Mirchi and  Kingfisher Strong Power Soda’s  ‘Mirchimix’ at Nicco Park, Kolkata.

‘Mirchi mix’ is a nationwide DJ hunt presented by Kingfisher Strong Power Soda. The contest aims to bring the best out of the DJs as they are required to mix beats in a thematic contest, this year the theme being disco. To fulfill their dream to make it big, young aspiring DJs were given the challenge to remix well known disco songs of Bappi Lahiri to give it a fresh spin.

Other than Kolkata, the city finales will be held in Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai & Lucknow.
