Coke celebrates 125 years with King of Bhangra Daler Mehndi

MUMBAI: Zor Ka Jhatka Haye Zoro Se Laga….' he sang and the crowd at the Nitesh Kunj grounds went berserk. Amidst pulsating bodies, thumping feet and 25 thousand watts of vibrating music displacing the air, Daler Mehndi, India's Pop-Bhangra sensation, set the evening afire on Sunday. With his bejeweled turban, majestic personae and trademark foot tapping music, the King of Bhangra enthralled one and all in a live concert that became a virtual power house of volatile entertainment.

The concert was to celebrate the 125 years of Coke, and who could have actually stormed the show better than Mehndi. The exhilarating combination of Brand Coke with Brand Mehndi relived those moments when Bhangra King was signed by Coca Cola to endorse its products and was featured in 30 concerts across the country in 1998.

Belting out all fan favorites, Mehndi brought his brand of kinetic energy as he vigorously moved from one end of the stage to the other, at times kicking up his legs to his own magical beats. He also gladly obliged the vivacious crowd who could not get enough of their favorite artist and wanted him to perform beyond the scheduled concert time.
