China Mobile Launches Nokia Music Phones

MUMBAI: China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL and SEHK: 0941) put up customized Nokia 5802XM 2G mobile phones on June 11, 2009, citing a report.

Such mobile phones can be used to enjoy and download music at China Mobile's online music store. Buying a CNY 5 or CNY 10 service bundle, a user of such a phone can download 50 or 200 songs without the payment of GPRS fees. Members of China Mobile's Wireless Music Club can enjoy 10% or 30% discounts.

In 2009, Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) plans to launch 30 types of China-Mobile-customized mobile phones, said a Nokia executive, adding that the Nokia cellphones applicable to China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network will serve local consumers this yearend in line with his company's plan.

In November 2008, China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou disclosed that Nokia would provide his company with a certain number of terminals that can access China Mobile's both GSM and TD-SCDMA networks.
