Big 92.7 FM & Durbar Mahila Samanya Committee spreads awareness about HIV and AIDS on the Occasion of World AIDS Day at Sonagachi

MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM No. 1 FM Station Network in association with Durbar Mahila Samanaya Committee on the occasion of World Aids Day organized a day long HIV and AIDS awareness campaign on 1st December'09 to keep the public informed about the reality, myths and misconceptions about HIV and AIDS. The awareness campaign which will be carried out both on-air and on-ground will focus on spreading the right information and will urge people to stop discrimination towards HIV infected people. The campaign kicked off at Sonagachi the largest red light district in the city. Road shows, quiz compettion, talking doll show and an all day information cell were set up to increase awareness and fight against AIDS. Trams painted with awareness messages will run through the streets of the city.

Commenting on the above initiative Mr Terence Ashish Mandle, Station Head of BIG 92.7 FM, Kolkata said "BIG 92.7 Fm in association with Durbar Mahila Samanya Committee aims to overcome the stigma around HIV AIDS and generate awareness among the masses. As a responsible medium we are supporting this cause through a whole array of offerings both on air and on ground. RJs Sumonto & Sanchari will support the cause through the on ground live on air show "Ektu Personnel" at Sonagachi. Doing this we are hoping to see the entire area support the cause and our jocks. The personal involvement of our RJs with the local populace is sure to have a positive impact. We are confident that the local populace is going to support us in our positive endeavor with open ears that will bring about a positive change in their outlook to this issue."
