'Aradhana' screening by Radio Mirchi

MUMBAI: It is a known fact that the Rajesh Khanna- Sharmila Tagore starrer Aradhana' was a hit when it was screened way back in 1969. In fact, it was one of the biggest hits of the year that also bagged a number of Filmfare awards!

What is not known is that the magic of the movie still continues with it being an absolute favourite and hit to date!

When Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM held a special screening of the movie for its listeners to celebrate Valentine's week, 41 years after the movie's release, the response was overwhelming to say the least.

Hundreds of people turned up with their loved ones and were delighted to be a part of the screening of the legendary film which they had seen umpteen number of times on the small screen but just once before or probably never, on the big screen.

RJ Anmol who hosts the popular retro show Purani Jeans' addressed the audience, and spoke about the great Director of the movie Shakti Samant, who's son Ashim was present as part of the audience too.

Actress Amrita Rao who was present at the screening dressed in a traditional white outfit said that she had chosen the retro look, keeping in mind the theme and era of the movie being screened. I am delighted to be a part of the screening and am very excited to watch the all time classic Aradhana which I have seen on TV several times but never on 70 mm. The idea of watching it on big screen that too in a theatre like Regal which has an old world charm is very exciting...

Anjana Sukhani also present for the screening said My cousin brother was part of the movie. He was a junior artist and played a young boy. I am here to watch him and of course the widely spoken about film which is extremely popular even today...

Several listener couples who had seen the film either as children or secretly during their courtship days, were thrilled to come out after all these years and watch the movie with their children and partners.

Tune into Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM for listeners reactions on the movie and their experience of being a part of the screening.
