Ad Gurus meet to pick winners of the 10th Mirchi Kaan Awards

MUMBAI: For a decade now, Mirchi Kaan Awards have celebrated creativity in challenging and evolving field of radio advertising. In its 10th year, Radio Mirchi’s Mirchi Kaan Awards will once again acknowledge and honour groundbreaking and original radio campaigns of 2012 across 15 categories. The Jury met today to pick t he most appealing radio campaign of the year 2012.

Creativity, out-of-the-box concepts and clutter breaking advertising - The radio advertising of the year gone by was all of that and much more! To pick the best of the lot was one tricky job and India’s ad gurus efficiently shouldered the responsibility by diligently listening to each entry, judging them and shortlisting the finest radio ads of 2012.

The eminent jury includes the stalwarts like Bobby Pawar, Prasoon Joshi, Josy Paul, Meera Sharatchandra, Pratap Suthan, Amit Akali, Sainath Saraban, Anurag Agnihotri, Vispy Hodiwala, Ramanuj Shastry, Priti Nair, Rekha Nigam and Manohar Nayak.

Speaking about the 10th Mirchi Kaan Awards, ENIL national marketing head GG Jayanta  said, “It is a proud moment for us as the Mirchi Kaan Award is in its 10th year. Each passing year the stakes get higher as number of entries takes an upward leap. This speaks volumes about the prominence of Mirchi Kaan Awards in the industry. As always, we have some of the most renowned names on the jury panel. We would like to thank everyone for the continuous support.”

Talking about the nominations, Prasoon Joshi said, “I’ve been part of the panel for the last 6 years now. This year the ads are more creative and appealing than the last year. I always encourage and advise the youngsters to keep writing and to be more and more creative. Radio as a medium is continuously evolving. Today it is one of the best medium for brands to reach out to audience.”

Josy Paul said, “Today we heard some really good raw talent. It is good to know that there is a lot of promising talent. Radio has never been a standalone medium for promotion. However been one of the most important part of the marketing mix for a lot of brands.”

Bobby Pawar said, “Some ads were interesting. It is truly a pleasure being part of the jury.”

The winners of which will be felicitated at a gala event on 5 July, 2013.
