92.7 BIG FM & Global Cancer Trust spreads awareness about Cancer on the Occasion of World Cancer Day

MUMBAI: Cancer is the leading cause of death in the world. In the developed countries cancer is the second leading cause of death while in developing countries it ranks third .Due to lack of awareness Cancer in India in most cases are detected late. As a responsible medium and its continued effort to contribute to the society 92.7 BIG FM in association with Global Cancer Trust Kolkata on the occasion of World Cancer Day organized a cancer awareness campaign on 4th February 2010, to keep the public informed about the reality, myths and misconceptions about cancer.

The eminent oncologist Dr Vikash Agarwal along with RJ ARNABI kicked off the campaign through FIGHT CANCER, the on ground live on air show at City Centre. Presence of eminent personalities like – Industrialist Harsh Vardhan Neotia, Pallavi Chatterjee, Dr K M Mandana made the cause even more grand. The Cause was witnessed by huge number of smoking quitters and general crowd.

The awareness campaign, which was carried out both on-air and on-ground, focused on spreading the right information. Live Booth was set up and brochures were distributed to increase awareness on the simple measures to fight cancer. The website globalcancertrust.org... was launched and audience were asked to register on the website and support the cause.
