92.7 Big FM & Celon Labs celebrates World No Tobacco Day

MUMBAI: 92.7 BIG FM in association with Celon Labs has today flagged off city's first ever free lung function check up Camp. The effort consists of a mobile clinic called �Celon Lifecare Express Bus' which will be fully equipped with lung Function check up equipment. The campaign is being organised as part of the Lung Health Awareness Week that culminates in Mumbai, on the World No Tobacco Day, i.e. on the May 31st.

The �Celon Lifecare Express Bus' was flagged off from the Pune on 25th and reached Mumbai on 31st. Celon also conducted similar camp in Hyderabad on 30th May. The team performed lung check up on people absolutely free of cost. Its flagged off in Mumbai by one of the city's best-known cancer experts, Dr. Maheboob M. Basade, MD ECMO and Bollywood Actor Rohit Roy from the BIG FM's Mumbai HQ office at Infinit Mall. Also, present at the occasion was Mr. KM Ravindra, CEO of Celon labs & Mr. Vijay Dhami, Director – Sales for Celon Labs.

The rising incidence of lung cancer is mainly owed to increase in Tobacco Consumption, which is what needs to be checked. This not only affects the active smokers but passive smokers as well, says Dr. Dr. Maheboob M. Basade, MD at Jaslok Hospital. He further insists, although most cigarette smokers know the harmful effects of smoking, they find it difficult to Quit Tobacco Consumption.

People walked in to the Celon Lifecare Express Unit and got a free lung check up done by the experts. Starting from Infiniti Mall, Lokhandwala on May 31st in Mumbai, the Celon Lifecare Express Bus made scheduled halts at three prime places in Mumbai – Mulund, Bhandup & Gandhinagar – and  will cater to at least 500 persons in a day.

It is notable that every year 5 million cancer deaths are caused due to tobacco. Scientific evidences have proved that any form of tobacco use can cause cancer. Chewing tobacco can cause lip, tongue and mouth cancer while smokers are at a risk of different type of cancers including Lung, Larynx, Pharynx, Esophagus, Bladder, Cervix, Kidney and Pancreas, Lung cancer being the most popular form of cancer caused by tobacco.
