Anushka Manchanda a voice of young generation

MUMBAI: Anushka Manchanda the bold, vibrant singer known for her devil may care attitude has left an indelible mark on music industry after delivering some sensational songs including Golmaal, Naughty Naughty, Alisha and Dum Maro Dum.

The pop diva will croon for the untitled project of Midival Punditz and will also collaborate with music directors Jigar and Sachin. The rockstar hasn't limited herself only to playback singing, Anushka fronts a newly formed independent electro-pop band Shkabang and has also performed with Ashu's Petri Dish Project.

Shkabang is an independent band comprising five musicians from different genres who promote themselves through various digital media including a page on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The singer also plans to come out with the Shkabang album soon this year.

Speaking about her band Anushka imparts, Shkabang is made up of musicians who want to get on stage and play music. The only motive of Shkabang is to have fun with sound and break the boundaries by pushing their limits....

Commiserating on the sorry state of Indie rock-pop band Anushka further adds, Besides playing in gigs and live events, social networking sites are the only way for any Indie band, to connect with different crowds across the country. I wish record labels would put more money into releasing independent artists and non-film musicians than into Bollywood. There is so much talent but no funds to push and promote the music, and none of the music channels want to play non-film stuff....

The rock and roll singer has also been hailed as a new voice of young generation. The accolade was received soon after the release of her song Dum Maro Dum' from the classic Hare Krishna Hare Rama' rendered by Asha Bhonsle.

When quizzed about her dilemma of recording the evergreen song, Anushka quips, Dum Maro Maro Dum was composed in a different style and so while singing the remake there was no question of comparison in my mind. The new style and freedom given by Pritam, Jaideep and Rohan to experiment with tone and texture, made it easy for me to render the song without any hang-ups. I have received pretty good response for the rendition of the song by music fraternity."

Anushka sums up her rollercoaster career experience and states, I am thankful and blessed for every opportunity that I received from the start of my career as it made me a better singer and helped me to deal with life and responsibilities. This journey has made me more confident, as a singer, performer and artiste."
