Radio Mirchi sweeps 13 honours at IRF 2013

MUMBAI: Radio jockeys (RJs), programming heads and marketing teams of leading private FM stations jumped with joy as their stations won at the annual Indian Excellence in Radio awards 2013. Continuing its winning streak, Entertainment Network’s Radio Mirchi was the big winner with 13 awards including the Best Breakfast Programme/Show (Hindi).

Talking about the success, ENIL chief programming officer Tapan Sen said, “Once again, Radio Mirchi has won the maximum number of awards at IRF’s Excellence in Radio Awards. I am incredibly proud of the talented team I work with each day. Our mantra has always been to add a little mirchi to whatever we do. I am glad that the eminent jury has recognized and appreciated our efforts. 13 awards that we have won are across metro and non-metro stations which go to prove that we are liked and appreciated across India. These awards give us an assurance that we are headed in the right direction and we continue to march ahead with innovation and excellence.”

Big FM and Red FM fell at the second spot with a tie of nine awards each. Although, the three radio stations bagged most of the awards but the title of Best Radio station was picked up by Radio City Bengaluru. RJ Malishka won the title of RJ of the Year (Hindi) again, proving that there is no one as entertaining as her and also her programme ‘Bajaao for a cause’ won the award for Best Interactive Idea and Best Media Campaign.

“Winning this award every year is so encouraging. I am happy that I have received it again and I feel really amazing about it. The programme ‘Bajaao for a cause’ is something that we do every year as part of our CSR (corporate social responsibility) and this time we partnered with National Association of Blind (NAB) so that we could raise money for them. Such initiatives are really important.”

Yaadon Ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra won the Best Programme Broadcast After 11am (Hindi) and Big FM's Green Ganesha was awarded the Best Creative Campaign. Radio City's Love Guru bagged the Best Radio Programme/Show Packaging and RJ Anmol's Bus Itna Sa Khwab Hai on Purani Jeans won Best On Ground/Activation by an FM Station.

There was tie between Club FM and Radio Mango for the Best Radio Programme (Malayalam). Two new categories were introduced this year- Best Radio Station Imaging and Best Radio Station Imaging Innovation which were won by Red FM Mumbai and Radio Mango respectively. Best Community Service Award was pegged by Big FM’s Rosie Massage Parlour while Maxus swept the Most Outstanding Use of Radio In An Ad Campaign for Colors Big Boss Season 6.

Red FM Network COO Nisha Narayanan said, "Red FM always strives to think differently to connect with our listeners. It is our constant attempt to set higher standards of radio programming every day. We are extremely pleased to be recognized and honoured by the key awards we have received at IRF. This triumph is a testament of the quality of work we do at Red FM."

Other winners at the eighth edition of the awards were Music Broadcast’s Radio City  with five and Radio Mango with three wins each.
