MUMBAI: Expanding its Xperia series, Sony has announced the launch of smartphone ‘Xperia S’ in the Indian market.

The device features 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen, android 2.3 Gingerbread OS (upgradable to android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich), 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor and 12.1 MP camera with auto focus.

The handset is also equipped with 1GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and supports NFC, bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

Xperia S will be Sony’s first branded smartphone in the country after it took over Ericsson’s mobile business last year.

The device will be priced around Rs 32,000 and will launch on 10 April in India.
