Sony Ericsson launches two new handsets

MUMBAI: Sony Ericsson has unveiled two new handsets in the market. It has launched its first full touch Walkman phone named Yendo with support for all the music formats and another handset called Sony Ericsson Cedar.

Yendo offers most music phone features and offers the popular Sony Walkman player along with shake control, TrackID recognition, SensMe technologies.

It sports a 2.6 inch TFT resistive touch screen making it the first one from the Sony Walkman series. The phone has an internal memory of 5MB that can be expanded to 16 GB through a MicroSD card. The minor glich that the handset has that it does not support 3G and the Wi-Fi connectivity. Its other attributes of the phone include a 2MP camera and 4X digital zoom, FM radio, and a 2.6 inch display. Its connectivity features include a 3.5mm stereo jack, Bluetooth, and micro USB connector.

The device comes in a range of vibrant hues like, black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, silver, yellow and white.

The company has also launched another handset titled Cedar. It offers easy social networking connectivity and supports 3G HSDPA and email. The Widget Manager 2.0 allows users to easily access social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

It features a 2.2 inch screen and its dimensions are 111mm x 49mm x 15.5mm while it weighs 84 grams. The phone offers a talk time up to 12 and a half hours and a standby time up to 420 hours.

The smartphone also supports UMTS HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. IT also offers a 2 megapixel camera with video recording and push mail, Bluetooth connectivity and HSDPA.

Among multimedia features it offers Media player, FM Radio, video streaming, YouTube and Access Netfront 3.5 web browser.

The handsets are touted to launch in September though the pricing is still not known.
