Samsung launches Mpower 699 with OMH technology

MUMBAI: Samsung India has tied up with Qualcomm to enter into the Indian CDMA market. The company in alliance with Qualcomm is launching its Mpower 699 handset with OMH technology in India. In the initial phase, CDMA operators will offer OMH SIM cards along with the phone.

This particular OMH technology is attuned only with the CDMA platform as the network settings for the CDMA handsets have shifted from the phone to the OMH SIM card. The process to switch to OMH SIM cards seems to be an effortless process which further escalates the popularity for the same.

The world's first open market CDMA handset (OMH), Mpower 699 gives customers the flexibility to buy a CDMA handset and switch SIM cards to a CDMA operator of their choice.

The handset is equipped with a 2.2-inch display screen, a 1.3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, and can playback digital music, movies and FM radio. It comes with an advanced mobile tracker, supports Bluetooth, and has a MicroSD card slot that can accommodate up to 2GB memory.

The OMH enabled handsets also offer support to the older R-UIM or SIM for voice and SMS as well as data services. Besides, it also boasts of backward compatibility and supports all earlier CDMA handsets with R-UIM/SIM support. The Samsung creation also includes an integrated audio and video player.

The handset is available in India for a price of Rs. 7100.
