Samsung launches eight new multimedia phones

MUMBAI: Samsung Telecommunications has announced the launch of its Flagship model Soul (SGH-U900) in the country. The company has also launched eight new advanced mobiles - SGH-i780, Samsung D780, Samsung E251, Samsung M120, Samsung J150, Samsung BeaT450, Samsung Guru 300.

The new launches in the multimedia section are SGH-E251, SGH-M120 and SGH-J150. Samsung E251 in the music phone segment has a 1GB content loaded MicroSD, FM radio with RDS and MP3 music player.

SAMSUNG M120 is equipped with MP3 music player, Stereo FM radio, video camera, GPRS Class 10, Cricket game and call time tracker, Hinglish messaging and 10MB internal memory. It is priced at Rs. 3795.SAMSUNG's J150 is a 9.9 mm Slim, premium, metallic design mobile phone. It has a 1.9" large display with 1.3 mega pixel camera, MP3 music player, FM radio, bluetooth connectivity and expandable memory (MicroSD). The handset is priced at Rs. 5300.

The highpoint of SAMSUNG's Multimedia Phone range in the Music Phone segment is the SAMSUNG BeaT450, which seeks to give users a Mobile Theatre experience. It brings alive the pulsating experience of 3D surround sound powered by ICE Power amplifiers by Bang & Olufsen. Storing, accessing and juggling music on this mobile phone gives the users a revolutionary Music wheel and the Dual-Slider form factor. The BeaT450 has been priced at Rs.14,799.

The Soul model is a slim, lightweight and stylish product yet still boasting all the essential functions. The phone is equipped with features like Magic Touch by DaCP, navigation indicators on the keypad of the phone - that change according to the users' needs, making navigation of the menus simple, intuitive and direct. The navigation panel's icons change according to function. For example, when in music mode, music related icons will light up on the navigation indicators. When in camera mode, camera related icons such as zoom and brightness icons will appear.

The handset has very up-to-date features used in cameras today. Being only 12.9mm thin, Soul is equipped with five megapixel camera and other features such as face detection, image stabilizer and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR).

Users can access internet through the 7.2 Mbps High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) browser and share images or video taken with the phone. It even features Music library navigation, digital power amplifier by ICE power technology by Bang & Olufsen ICE power.Soul is priced at Rs. 20,585.

Addressing the needs of the business users, are the SAMSUNG SGH-i780 and the SAMSUNG D780.The SAMSUNG SGH-i780 includes features such as QWERTY keyboard and full touch screen, push email, MS Office, MSN Chat; GPS capabilities, an optical mouse, Wi-fi support and 2-megapixel camera. The handset is priced at Rs 25,000.

The SAMSUNG D780 is a tri band, dual sim phone with a SIM toggle key; 2.1"
QVGA TFT Display, 2 Mega pixel camera, FM Alarm, MP3 Music player, e- mail with XHTML, Bluetooth and Bluetooth printing capability and supports upto 11 hours battery talk time.

The company has strengthened its popular Guru Series with the introduction of Guru 145 and Guru 300. The Guru 145 represents the entry level in the Guru series, with its pricing of Rs.1696. It comes with an 8 hours battery talk time, 65K Colour CSTN display, Speakerphone, Mobile tracker and 16 poly ring tones.

Samsung Guru 300 offers multimedia features such as FM recording, MP3 ringtones, English messaging, Indian calendar and Java games (cricket and Sudoku). The handset is priced at Rs.2999.

The SAMSUNG Guru range now comprises of four models - Guru 145, Guru 100, Guru 200 and Guru 300 and is priced in the range between Rs 1696/- to Rs.2999/-. With the introduction of Soul and the seven new models, the SAMSUNG mobile phone range is available in the price range between Rs 1696/- to Rs 27599/-.

SAMSUNG also announced its foray into the Mobile accessory market by launching a host of mobile accessories including Bluetooth headsets- both Mono and Stereo; Portable speakers; handsfree, car adaptor and other standard accessories. The highpoint of the Bluetooth accessory range is the unique coin shaped SAMSUNG headset WEP 500 as well as WEP 420, which is the SAMSUNG Bluetooth headset available in B&O design." We expect to garner a 5-10% of the mobile accessory market this Year", states Dutt.
