BlackBerry rides high on 10-OS based 'Aristo' and 'Laguna'

MUMBAI: Expanding further into the smartphone market by unveiling handsets with the latest technology, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) is now planning to launch a series of powerful smartphones equipped with the BlackBerry 10 OS. Amongst the first to launch in the series is the ‘Aristo’ and ‘Laguna’ which will be unveiled globally next year.

‘Aristo’ will be embedded with a 4.65 inch touch-screen display comprising of OCTA gloss OLED panel, 1280x720 pixel resolution, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, BlackBerry 10 mobile OS, 8 MP rear autofocus camera with flash and 1080p HD video recording, 2 MP front camera with 720p HD video chat support and face detection, 4 microphones for better audio capture, 2GB RAM and 2800 mAh battery.

The handset will further feature bluetooth 4.0, LTE network supporting Qualcomm MDM9x15 modem chip, WiFi module, autonomous GPS, DLNA support, micro USB port, micro HDMI out, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Altimeter and a Near Field Communication chip.

On the other hand ‘Laguna’ is said to be powered by a 4.2 inch display, dual-core Krait processor (Qualcomm MSM8960), 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, dual-stereo microphone for active noise cancellation,16GB in-built storage, microSD card, 1,800 mAh battery.

It will also be equipped with 4G, bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, microHDMI-out, NFC, Wi-Fi with DLNA, hotspot, and direct functionality.

The pricing and availability details is yet to be revealed.
