MUMBAI: Rapper Kayne West leads the nominations with seven nods at the BET Awards 2012. The singer is closely followed by songstress Beyonce who has received six nods.
West has received two nominations for best collaboration with Jay Z(The Throne) and Big Sean & Roscoe Dash (Marvin & Chardonnay), two nods for video of the year (‘N as in Paris’ and ‘Otis’), video director of the year, coca-cola viewer’s choice award (‘Lotus Flower Bomb’) and best group (Jay-Z & Kanye West).
Songstress Beyonce received nominations for best female R&B artist, best collaboration with J Cole (Party), two nods for video of the year (Countdown and Love on Top), video director of the year with Alan Ferguson and coca-cola viewer’s choice award (Love on Top). Other nominees included Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Drake and J Cole.
The awards show will witness performances by artistes like Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj amongst others. The BET Awards will also pay tribute to late artistes including Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Don Cornelius and Amy Winehouse.
The event hosted by Samuel L Jackson will be held on 1 July at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
