Tamil Nadu gets one more CR station

NEW DELHI: The number of sanctioned community radio stations has risen to 65 with the government permitting the M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering in District Karur of  Tamil Nadu to operate a station.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating the Station. The Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. 

Community radio station to start at Uttaranchal

MUMBAI: A community radio station will soon come up at “The Energy Resources Institute”, Disttt. Mukteshwar, Uttaranchal.

The Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC). The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 64 in the country.

UP's Ghaziabad to get its community radio

MUMBAI: Hint Institute of Mass Communication will set up its own community radio station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh within an estimated three months.

With this, the number of CRS in the country will increase to 64.

TN agri university gets nod for CR station

NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has received permission for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station.

The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement signed with the information and broadcasting ministry. 

With this, the number of CR stations will increase to 63 in the country.

Govt rules out any financial help for community radio

NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday ruled out any proposal to provide financial support to educational institutions and other organisations to launch community radio stations. 

Parliament was informed that a total of 48 Community Radio stations were functioning in 16 states and union territories at present, which included 42 started by educational institutions and six by non-governmental organizations.  

I&B min to organise community radio consultations across cities

MUMBAI: In a move aimed at encouraging more community radio stations in India, the ministry of Information and Broadcasting is organising a series of state-level workshops across the country.

The ministry has already held three consultations in November at Rajashthan, Shillong and Haryana. Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia are the facilitators for the workshop.

MUMBAI: The Sai Jyoti Gramodhyog Samaj Sewa Samiti, Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh has signed its Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating a Community Radio Station.

A Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 62 in the country, says an official release.

MP's Shivpuri to get its Community radio

MUMBAI: Sambhav Social Service Organization will set up its community radio station in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh within an estimated three months time.

With this, the number of CRS will increase to 61 in the country.

Community radio to roll out in Haryana

MUMBAI: Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University will set up its community radio station in Hissar within an estimated three months time.

With this the number of CRS will increase to 60 in the country.

Sustainability haunts Community radio

MUMBAI: Community radio is a radio station for, by and of the community. This adage was cemented at the community radio workshop in Mumbai last week.

Held at Juhu in suburban Mumbai, the two day workshop- ‘Community Radio: tuning into diversity’ offered guidelines on setting up, managing and sustaining a community radio station.
