Mirchi inches closer to Big in Bangalore

MUMBAI: Week 2 was a see saw for the IRS R2 winner Radio Mirchi - in Bangalore it moved closer to leader Big FM, and in Mumbai consolidated its lead position. But in Delhi and Kolkata, the leader slipped a few points, but competition was still far away, if RAM data is any indication.

Bangalore: Mirchi climbed 0.4 points in Bangalore, inching closer to Big FM which slipped 0.7 points during the week and ending the week at 19 per cent of the market. Fever having lost 0.3 points during the week, took home 15.3 per cent share of the market and Radio City came in a poor fourth at 12.4 per cent share of the market, despite having climbed 0.2 points during the week. AIR's FM Rainbow, Red FM and Radio One followed.

Delhi: Mirchi held sway in the capital despite having lost 0.3 points, and ended the week with a market share of 24.7 per cent and Fever climbed up a determined 0.4 points to come in second with a share of 18.7 per cent, just ahead of AIR's FM Gold station which climbed 0.9 points to end with a share of 18.4 per cent. Red FM was a distant fourth with a share of 9.3 per cent, having climbed 0.1 points during the week. Radio City followed with a share of 8.2 percentage points, and Big FM came up behind it with a share of 6.5 per cent. Radio One, Hit FM and Meow followed.

Kolkata: Mirchi slipped 0.2 points in Kolkata, but retained its lead head and shoulders over Big FM with a market share of 21 per cent. Big FM, despite having gained 0.9 points during the week, had to contend with a share of 17 per cent, way ahead of Friends FM which slipped 0.6 points during the week and ended with a share of 14 per cent. Aamar climbed 0.6 points during the week and ended with a share of 10.8 per cent. Red FM with a share of 7.9 per cent, and Fever with a share of 7.5 per cent, followed.

Mumbai: Mirchi consolidated its position in Mumbai, climbing 0.6 percentage points and ending with a share of 17.2 per cent. Red FM slipped 0.3 points, having to make do with second position and a market share of 13.5 per cent. Radio City came in third with a share of 13.1 per cent, and AIR's FM Gold station followed with a share of 12.6 per cent. The only other gainer in Mumbai was Big FM which climbed 0.1 points to end with a share of 11.7 per cent of the market.
