Private FM stations' ad revenue soars in Q2 2015-16

NEW DELHI: The advertisement revenue of 236 private FM channels during the quarter ending September 2015 was Rs 481.56 crore, according to a quarterly report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

In the quarter ending June 2015, the ad revenue figure for 239 private FM Radio stations stood at Rs 393.90 crore.

TRAI in a release today said these figures were based on the details of advertisement revenue submitted by the FM radio service providers to TRAI.

Apart from the radio stations operated by All India Radio, there were 243 operational private FM Radio stations as on 30 September 2015.

According to the data received by it from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, TRAI said in its quarterly report that the licensees of community radio rose by two to 232 as compared to the quarter ending June 2015.

However, there was increase of only one in operational channels to 187 by September 2015 as compared to the previous quarter.
