Radio City takes up a challenge to help the needy

MUMBAI: The #ALSIceBucketChallenge has become inspiration to many of the new challenges coming up all over the place. One of the most recent on the list of challenges is the #RiceBucketChallenge, which is being promoted by the Radio City team in Ahmedabad. RJs- Aseem, Aisha, Radhika and Nehal, of Radio City have taken up the challenge and are looking to get more people involved.

The new challenge was started by Manju Latha Kalanidhi, a 38 year old journalist from Hyderabad, to offer deprived people a basic meal for the day. RJs at Radio City, Ahmedabad, decided to pledge their support towards the #RiceBucketChallenge by donating rice to the poor and encouraging their listeners to do the same.

RJ Aseem said, “Participating in the #RiceBucketChallenge was far more fulfilling than any other challenge that we have ever taken. This was far more beneficial and we are extremely proud that we got a chance to spread smiles amongst the needy through this noble cause.”

Listeners who called up Radio City were asked a question based on the city of Ahmedabad, and the people who answered correctly were entitled to win 5 kilograms of rice, not for themselves, but for someone they have nominated which would be a person in need that they know.

The station stated that the response has been overwhelming and that by the end of the initiative, the station gave out five kilograms of rice to over 10 people in need.
