International Yoga Day: BIG FM urges listeners to change perspective towards fitness

MUMBAI: BIG FM, one of the largest radio networks in India, in its endeavour to make a difference to the lives of its listeners has urged them to change their perspective towards their health and fitness. Having recently undergone a re-launch with a new brand positioning ‘Dhun Badal ke Toh Dekho’ across its stations, this is yet another initiative where BIG FM has led from the front in trying to change perspectives for a healthier tomorrow.

To inspire their listeners further, well-known fitness instructor Simmi Sakhuja, who has some big names of Bollywood as her clientele, conducted a yoga session with the entire network of BIG FM through Facebook Live.

With a theme of getting fit - the yoga way, a ‘Yoga Alarm’ was scheduled every hour on-air to prompt people to wake up and practice basic yoga poses and stretching exercises. The initiative was taken with the intent to motivate people to inculcate this as a habit in their day-to-day lives to ensure a healthy lifestyle. This was further supported by Simmi Sakhuja’s 12 inspirational videos, where she was seen teaching basic yoga poses that aren’t only easy, but effective to do each hour.

Commenting on this one-of-its-kind fitness initiative, a BIG FM spokesperson said, “As a radio network, we have always been at the forefront of catering to our listeners and their well-being. It feels good to have an expert like Simmi Sakhuja on-board who has joined hands with us to inspire people to practise healthy living. Her show ‘Jo fit hai woh hit hai with Simmi Sakhuja’ has been a constant hit throughout years with health advice and diet tips given out to listeners on a regular basis. We hope to bring a positive change in the mindset of people through this concept.”

Speaking on the initiative, fitness expert Simmi Sakhuja said, “Yoga is a way of life. How about integrating it in our daily lives, especially when we are working on our laptops while being seated all the time? A few short exercises will keep you going every day to feel good, correct posture and keep good mobility in all the joints. At BIG FM we have always been one Big Family. It feels good when the Big Family works out together along with our listeners. I hope our listeners and our digital audience will be able to draw some inspiration from this initiative and work on themselves for a healthier life. So why not Yoga every day! Let’s change our life the yoga way. It helps us feel good in our body and mind.”

The radio network, that enjoys undisputed reach across markets in India, has always been persistent when it comes to taking such initiatives which not only works in the welfare of the society but contributes to their growth and development as a whole.
