After Red FM, Mirchi makes its presence felt in Northeast

MUMBAI: Phase III has been a boon for the radio industry and many cities, especially the nature-centric cities.

The Northeastern region of India is not huge on Private FM, but it's spreading the radio wings gradually. Thus, after Red FM’s launch in Meghalaya, ENIL’s (Entertainment Network India Limited) Radio Mirchi has now taken a step ahead to entertain the northeastern audience. The new station launched in Shillong on 17 March 2017.

The RJs who will be hosting the shows on Mirchi 91.1 are dashing RJ Gordon, vivacious RJ Marisa and the effusive RJ Nicky J. They are the voices that will keep the people of Shillong entertained all day long with their unique view on all things related to the city.

The playlist of Mirchi Shillong will be a unique combination of international chartbusters and recent Bollywood hits. Mirchi also promises to keep listeners hooked by taking up discussions on the topics that are most relevant to the youth of today and also entertaining them with celeb chats, comedy and infotainment.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Dr. Mukul Sangma said, “I am very happy to see that a national brand of such repute is setting up shop here. I am sure that we will soon see that Mirchi has become an integral part of the cultural and social fabric of Shillong.”

Radio Mirchi MD and CEO Prashant Panday commented, “We are delighted to be setting up the 50th station of our network in this amazing city. The format we are exploring in Shillong – a combination of Bollywood and English music – is new and we have great hopes for it. We have developed this format after extensive research amongst Shillongites. We hope that the city loves it as much as we enjoyed developing it.”

Under Phase III, Radio Mirchi has launch stations in Guwahati, Kochi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Pune, Nagpur and its second station in Bengaluru.
