Big FM partners with Fortis Healthcare for 'World Heart Day'

MUMBAI: BIG FM known for championing social initiatives organized a groundbreaking activity to commemorate World Heart Day. The radio network, in association with Fortis Escort Heart Institute (FEHI), went on-ground to provide cardiac checkups worth Rs 3500 each for its listeners, which included ECHO, ECG, BP and Blood Sugar checkup, free of cost. The activity was conducted over two days at FEHI, from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, on 26 and 27 September 2016.

Citizens were entitled to avail the free check-up facility by registering themselves over a phone call or by simply walking in. Extending the noble initiative further, Big FM and Fortis Escort Heart Institute joined hands to extend tests free of cost to the differently abled residents of NGO, Cheshire Homes India. A team designated by Fortis Escorts Heart Institute made the health check-up accessible for residents of the NGO by reaching their doorstep to commemorate the ‘World Heart Day.’

Commenting on the initiative, a spokesperson from Big FM said, “We are proud to be associated with FEHI for a noble cause such as this. Through the activity, our aim was to spread awareness and keep listeners informed about the need of routine health checkups. Moreover, it was a small gesture to give something back to all our listeners, who have supported us throughout our journey.”

Fortis Escort Heart Institute Chairman and Cardiologist Dr. Ashok Seth said, “Heart disease is the biggest killer and of all deaths in the world from heart disease, 50% deaths occur from India. Hence, prevention of heart disease becomes very important. Nearly a quarter of the Indian population has diabetes and hypotension, two of the biggest risk factors for heart disease and both occur silently, hence, this initiative to educate the public about regular checkups and prevention. Prevention of heart disease is in our own hands. We thank Big FM for spreading awareness among its listeners, and making this activity even bigger.”

The entire initiative was further spearheaded by Big FM RJ’s who interacted with patients, which was then taken on-air to support the cause.
