All India Radio withdraws clip on Mudra Yojana after protest by Arya Vaishya community

NEW DELHI: All India Radio (AIR), which has already withdrawn the programme on the Prime Minister Mudra Yojana which met the ire of the World Arya Vaishya Mahasabha, said the programme had come from the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity.

A spokesperson of the channel told Radioandmusic.com that an apology had already been issued and the programme was withdrawn immediately after its attention was drawn to the objectionable lines. There was no intention to hurt any section of society, the spokesperson added.

However, Mahasabha President Thanguturi Ramakrishna warned that it would force a shut down of all AIR Kendras for showing the Arya Vaishya community in poor light, unless action is taken against those guilty for this.

The Hindi programme to propagate the Prime Minister Mudra Yojana Scheme had a character speak a line in Yehudi translation - 'Naa sampadana antga aa komatodiki vaddi kattadanike sarpoyindi' – which hurt the Mahasabha.

An official of AIR said it was expected that a clip coming from DAVP which is a media unit of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry would have been screened and so AIR had used it.
