9X 'Jalwa Superstar Classics' to start Thursday, 15 January

MUMBAI: After a run of 'Jalwa Superstar' last year, 9X is back with 'Jalwa Superstar Classics'. The 50-episode documentary style series will feature classic blockbuster songs and interesting trivia based on the timeless superstars of Hindi cinema. The series will feature back-to-back music videos, followed by trivia and photo gallery of the respective artistes of that episode.

Speaking of the new series, 9X Jalwa Content Head Imtiaz Bagdadi said, "We, at 9X Jalwa, pride ourselves in giving our viewers the best of Bollywood music across eras. 'Jalwa Superstar Classics' presents the evergreen superstars of Hindi cinema from legendary actors to music composers to singers all the Superstars who have made their own special place in the industry. We hope that our viewers will enjoy watching their classic superstars on their favourite channel."

Classic music legends such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, RD Burman, Gulzar and Kishore Kumar will be joined by Bollywood acting legends like Amitabh Bachchan Rishi Kapoor, Rekha, Hema Malini, Zeenat Aman and many more as the core topic of the series.

Being developed since September last year, the series is expected to be on air for guaranteed six months. However, if the audience reaction is exceedingly overwhelming, the episode count might increase over time, sources have confirmed. The series will run twice a week, Thursdays and Fridays, starting this week on Thursday, 15 January and Friday, 16 January on 9 pm on 9X Jalwa. The first two episodes will feature Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman respectively. Next week's episodes are said to showcase the music of Yash Raj Films over the past years.

Sources have also confirmed that the channel has taken no action towards promoting or marketing the show on-ground or through print media. However, the series will be prominently promoted through social and digital media.
