Guvera aims for 10-12 million users by December 2015 in India

MUMBAI: Australian based music service Guvera had the privilege of becoming the first international music service to enter the Indian market, and also the first international service to reach the three million mark in India. Globally, the service has reached the 10 million milestone.

Guvera's user base stood at 1.5 million users in October 2014 and within a span of six months, its user base grew to 10 million. The company attributes its growth to the acquisition of UK-based Blinkbox Music from Tesco (in January 2015), which brought with it 2.5 million registered users. Since the launch of Guvera in India in November last year, the service saw a further surge in its user base.

Commenting on Guvera's growth in India, Guvera India and Middle East international manager Ananya Amin said, "We look forward to having 10-12 million users by December this year." Within two months of the launch in India, the site achieved 2 million users.

Guvera's global partnership with Lenovo will see the Guvera app pre-loaded onto Lenovo smartphones and tablets across 160 potential markets in which Lenovo operates, giving Guvera the ability to reach millions more around the world.

He further added, "We have a solid base of active users that want to engage with brands while listening to their favourite music." The service seamlessly provides music through an ad-funded model, which continues to be the revenue model of the site. Brands like YES BANK, Harley Rock Riders, Ezeego1 and Shaadi.com have partnered with Guvera for this model. Amin added, "We have actively worked with 15 of the biggest brands just in India and some more exciting partnerships are in the pipeline. Brands are keen on exploring our native ad offerings and its giving them immense outreach and value."

Amin added, "Media buyers or advertisers are realising there is more value in reaching to their audience through native content integration. It is an art we are looking to master with branded channels and getting brands to choose their style of music and then cater to their community via music."

"As a young brand, we welcome the 10 millionth user to the Guvera platform with a real sense of pride and delight," said Guvera Limited CEO Darren Herft. He further added that he is thrilled to know that Guvera's global community is growing daily and he hopes that Guvera will bring more music lovers on board as it will enter new markets in 2015. The service has over 35,000 users joining the service each day, across the world, over the past 22 weeks.

The company also carried out research in the Indian market across various categories. As per the research,West Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are India's top music streaming states. Top streamed artists are Arijit Singh, followed by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Divya Kumar. #LOVE, #DANCE and #RAHMAN- are the most used tags by the Indian users.

Amin also revealed that the company is always looking to add more regional content as it is well received by patrons across India.

He added that the House of Guvera will be unveiled soon. The project involves working with upcoming and established artists
