Check the interview below:

Tell us about your journey from a marketing and advertising professional to being a host of the radio show?

I have been working as a communication professional ever since 2005. I began my career as a copywriter working purely on concepts, creative ideation, sales-driven content creation, and video production. I switched my role to corporate communications post my MBA from the School Of Management Studies, Cochin University, and during this switch, Radio Mirchi happened to me. All of a sudden I was engrossed working with the brightest minds at 'Radio Mirchi' doing everything from scriptwriting to delivering voices to shows and advertisements. This is where I learned the ropes of radio which was at its nascent stage back then.

While as a corporate communications professional for the next 10 years I had the fortune to associate with the media fraternity and creative professionals throughout and help understand the evolving media landscape. With the pandemic the way we consumed content changed. Digital media became the favorite of almost everyone and conventional platforms like print, television, and radio revived themselves to the changing trend.

Being a ‘Malayali’ I was craving to view shows and read content that brought Kerala to the center stage and feature us without being stereotypical. A Malayali is often projected as a coconut lover, lungi wearer, one with faulty English conversing skills, and more. Thanks to OTT platforms, today Malayalam films are being recognized and revered for their superior content by a global audience.

It was my love for Kerala that pushed me to conceive a show like ‘Made In Kerala’ in a podcast format which is ideal for today’s audience who like to consume content on the go.

‘Made In Kerala' the podcast is an 'Original Audio Show' hosted by Radio City- India's Leading FM Station from the house of Jagran Group. The Original Show is part of Radiocity's foray into the Pan Indian audio streaming platforms in the form of Original Shows. The Podcast/Audio show features leading Malayali celebrities known across India as well as globally for their talent and achievements in the field of fashion, music, media, science, business as well as politics. The common link for the celebrities would be their connection to Kerala.

How did the process come about?

I pitched the concept to Radio City as I knew the scale of the show needed backing from a trusted media house. I take this opportunity to thank ‘Radio City’ who was supportive right from the very stage of listening to the concept and pilot episode. Every episode is a team effort with equal participation from Radio city right from programming to digital promotions. The episodes are delivered both in audio as well as video formats.

How has your experience been with recording these interviews?

Every interview on the show is recorded live as the format of the show is extremely candid and honest. The show has allowed me to interact with each guest at multiple points as part of the research thereby learning about their journeys, struggles, success, and mind space taking my love for Kerala a notch higher. It’s a delight to see them share about their childhood times and connections with Kerala. At times even delivered popular Malayalam film dialogues and songs during interactions.

What is the USP of the show? What can the viewers expect?

Made In Kerala will be featuring up close conversations with celebrities you knew but have never heard of them talking about themselves as Malayalees. Take for instance in the first episode we have the leading Indian rapper 'Raftaar singing Malayalam songs and sharing his love for Kerala Sadya, Mohanlal films, and his crush on Shobhana.

What other interviews are in the pipeline

We hope to give this out as a surprise to our viewers. As we will be bringing in celebrities you have seen in a never before conversational avatar, definitely in a true blue Kerala style.

Your future plans

Currently, I am associated with brands and individuals as their reputation management consultant. The focus at the moment certainly is to bring in the leading Malayali faces who represent India in the global arena to the show and share their Kerala roots with pan-Indian audiences. Made In Kerala will soon be viewed on the official 'Radio City' Youtube channel.
