By The Pier 2.0 to take place at the pier again

MUMBAI: Before the summer heat starts to hit the city, Regenerate has decided to launch its bi-yearly event 'By The Pier'. The second edition of the day-long music event, called 'By The Pier 2.0', will be around the same theme- deep house music along the seaside at Colaba's Radio Club Pier on 21 February.

Last November, Regenerate organised the event before the start of winter. The IP is incepted and curated by Bhishma Sagar and Aneesha Kotwani. "We planned to have this IP before the start of winter and during the end of the season," Kotwani said. "Our last gig attracted more than 700 people. We got a good response for this property and many people have great things to say about us. Radio Club Pier- as a venue is a difficult place to conduct such events, but surprisingly, we were able to pull of such gig." During the last edition, ticket prices are more or less the same, but this year tickets are being sold from Rs 1800 to 2100. Kotwani said, "We had more people buying tickets at the door."

For this edition, Regenerate brought in two promoters to help with the event. She said, "A lot of investments go into organising, and considering all that we attracted a good number of people. We are hoping to attract more than 1000 this time. We are dependent hugely on ticket sales."

This edition there will be a varied showcase in house music, with two international headliners - A Guy Called Gerald and Whyt Noyz (Sci+Tec/M-Nus) who will be playing at the pier and after party, respectively. Regenerate will have its own artistes like Qwiver / Blurry Slur (deep house moniker), Orbs&Zen, Kaleekarma, Troja, Chhab, and Audio Glitch & Twokid Wickid, play at the event.

By The Pier 2.0 has partnered with Vh1 India, The Bangin Beats, Uber, Style Cracker, and Heineken amongst others.

Kotwani said that they will never move to rock, pop or other genres of music as deep house music has so many genres and they would like to stick to it. She also ruled out any possibility of having the event more than twice a year. Regenerate along with organising 'By The Pier 2.0', are managing seven artistes. "We hope to help them break into the international scene and promote more local talents," concluded Kotwani.
