Control ALT Delete moves to new city and new crowd-funding platform for upcoming edition

MUMBAI: Control ALT Delete returns for its seventh edition on 18 April, but at a new venue – High Spirits in Pune and will offer a diverse line-up of artists. For the new edition, the crowd-funded music event has also moved from its previous funding platform, Wishberry to Instamojo.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com about the changes with Control ALT Delete, co-founder Himanshu Vaswani said, "Three things have changed this time around – the venue, the line-up and the funding platform. Firstly, we are moving to Pune. That was a deliberate decision, because we wanted to move to another market without steering too far from our comfort zone, especially since coming up with an event like this requires tremendous ground work." At Pune, Control ALT Delete will be held at High Spirits, a venue well known for giving up and coming independent artists a platform to perform.

"We had been talking to High Spirits since our metal edition back in June last year. We know that High Spirits has been supporting independent music for a while, and its artists perfectly resonate with our music. This time, not only is High Spirits providing us with excellent hospitality, but also it is giving us complete flexibility with our operation. It is also handling all the light and sound, without asking us for anything, which I think is amazing," stated Vaswani.

This time around, Control ALT Delete's line-up includes bass hip hop trio ViceVersa (Mumbai), Assamese band Digital Suicide (Haflong), Raxit Tiwari's solo project Your Chin (Mumbai), Shoumik Biswas's solo electronic project Disco Puppet (Bangalore), a capella group Voctronica (Mumbai), two piece experimental electronic act Castles in the Sky (Pune), synth/dark pop act Aqua Dominatrix (Mumbai), electronic rock act FuzzCulture (Delhi) and DJ act 2Sensitive (Mumbai).

On the slightly electronica inclined line-up, Vaswani said, "Control ALT Delete is about good music. Through our previous editions, we have had rock, alternative and metal. This time we wanted to experiment with the electronic genre. However, if you see, not all the artists on the line-up are electronically inclined. We have a capella and artists from Assam coming down to perform at Control ALT Delete."

From its seventh edition onwards, Control ALT Delete moves to another funding platform called Instamojo. It is well known among the independent music circuit of late because metal band Bhayanak Maut sold its official merchandise and music through Instamojo. Speaking on the music property move from Wishberry to Instamojo, Vaswani said, "Instamojo has been an incredible support for us. They are helping us big time with their contribution towards Control ALT Delete's digital marketing." He further stated that the Indian e-commerce start-up is taking a mere 1.9 per cent of the total revenue, which according to Vaswani, is relatively lower compared to Wishberry.

Vaswani also hinted that a few of the future Control ALT Delete editions could be held in Pune.
